• Keratosis pilaris alba is the more typical variant and is characterized by little gray-white papules with a negligible inflammatory factor.
• Keratosis pilaris rubra has a major inflammatory element, and thus patients present with little red papules. This variation is most conspicuous throughout the winter months.
• Search for small, follicular papules with or witouth(ie, rubra) or (ie, alba) surrounding redness.
• The most common injuries appear on the back of the upper arms and anterior thighs. Less usually, lesions involve the face, buttocks, and trunk.
• Involved zones, injuries are ample, monomorphic, and very evenly spaced.
• Sometimes fine hair may pierce the papules, or hair may be found coiled up within the keratin plug.
• Don´t try to force the Keratin plug as this won´t be eradicated this way.

Cells that contain keratin are constantly being shed and replaced by new ones. The situation known as dandruff outcomes when the scalp sheds such cells.
